So, we know from last week about the process of “Irreducible Complexity” and how any alleged transitional species could not thrive. We see that the fossil record bears this out completely as there are no reputable remains in the earth of the Darwinian hypothesis: “that change between the species occurred slowly over time as a spontaneous response to pressures in the external and internal environment via natural selection and mutations”.So to recap: THE FOSSIL RECORD DOES NOT BEAR THIS OUT.

The fossil record does show explosions of speciation over time.

This means we’ve seen the sudden existence of different species of animals appear in the fossil record (which corresponds with creationism).

Some Darwinians have proposed the concept of “PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM” as a better explanation for the lack of transitional fossils (I’m sorry, I meant a better explanation for THE NON-EXISTENCE OF REPUTABLE TRANSITIONAL FOSSILS).

This view agrees with the picture of life changing in sudden explosions. But the question is “how did this happen?”

The proponents suggest “PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM” happened naturally as small groups of species became isolated from the larger groups. They say: “once outside the normal environment, change occured rapidly as the isolated group adapted to new and significantly different conditions.”

Right…that sure proves God doesn’t exist…yeah and monkies will fly out of my…

But in comes the University of Oregon. “Their theoretical work showed that this isolation-and-adaptation process, the core mechanism of “PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM”, leads to extinction, not evolution.”

Some time ago, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis confirmed this conclusion. They studied collared lizards in the Missouri Ozarks, and found “that an isolated group is more likely to die off than to adapt and survive, much less advance.”

So we see the evolutionary concept faces immense challenges on its two fronts:

1 a strict Darwinian theory lacks PROOF from the fossil record,

2 and “PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM” lacks a legitamate mechanism.
