BIOGRAPHY -

Mel Gibson

As many of you know, the director of the most powerful Christian movie ever produced has made the news.

About a year ago I wrote a short commentary entitled “Mel Gibson and Glass Houses”, which briefly chronicled a few facts concerning his personal life: namely his drunken dialog with the police of Malibu, the impending divorce from his wife of 29 years, and the pregnancy of his then girlfriend; while pointing out the need of Christians to hold up Mel in prayer.

Now we have some disturbing audio (which has been tampered with, so it will not be used in court) which is accompanying his breakup with the mother of his new daughter, while news of another girlfriend who has seen the “violent side of Mel” is beginning to surface.

I have no intention of throwing any stones while I make my domicile within this glass mansion which has been my home for quite some time; nor am I, the kettle, about to demean the pot’s deep charcoal color; nor will I focus on the speck in that eye, whilst my vision is blurred because of the spike protruding from my own…

And…

Consider Mel Gibson: an avid and vocal and struggling Christian; a powerhouse in Hollywood; staunchly anti-abortion; has given multiplied millions of dollars to charities throughout the world; has made and been in movies which will be viewed until the end of the world; has more money than he knows what to do with (almost a BILLION dollars); and is such a perceived sex symbol that any woman on the planet (and some men) would do anything to experience a tryst with him.

Add to that: VIRTUALLY ANY MOVE HE MAKES, AND VIRTUALLY ANY WORD HE SPEAKS, IS RECORDED AND CAN BE ACCESSED BY ANYONE ON EARTH.

What you have is massive gifting, massive wealth, massive power, massive temptation AND an enemy (satan) which would delight in making a mockery of him for all to see and laugh and condemn and therefore by association demean Christ.

Which the enemy of our souls has done in spades…

Now let us consider ourselves.

How many of us have failed without any of the preceding baggage, or the preceding immense level of temptation?

How many of us?

So continue to pray for Mel Gibson.

Pray and be there for, and lift up, the disillusioned Christian (let someone else point the finger).

Pray for me.

And at the end of the day, when you have done all to stand… STAND. {Ephesians 6:13}
